Importante huile sur toile représentant un paysage constitué d'une vallée aux pentes arborées venant mourir le long d'un cours d'eau. Ce paysage est animé par un petit troupeau de vaches venant s'abreuver sous la garde d'une jeune femme.
Cette scène est surplombée par une chaumière.

August KESSLER, paysagiste allemand, né à Tillsit le 30 décembre 1826, mort à Dusseldorf en avril 1906.
Elève de Schirmer, à l'Académie de Dusseldorf, de1844 à1851. Il voyage ensuite en Allemagne, en Suisse, dans le Tyrol et l'Italie, puis se fixa en Dusseldorf. Il a exposé à Berlin, Munich, Dresde et Dusseldorf.

By following the sunshine, we can focus to the centre of this beautiful painting, a young woman feeding the cows, and the thatched cottage behind. All is so quiet, we can even hear the birds.

August KESSLER, German landscape painter, borned in Tillsit on 30 Decembre, 1826, died in Dusseldorf in April 1906.
Student of Schirmer, at the Academy of Dusseldorf, from 1844 to 1851. After that he travels to Germany, Switzerland, Tyrol and Italy, then he settles in Dusseldorf. He has exhibited in Berlin, Munich, Dresden qnd Dusseldorf.
